About

The ProxPAD in brief

ProxPAD is a single-location communication and learning aid for people who benefit from tangible objects, photographs, symbols or other concrete cues. Each recordable RFID sound tag can hold up to 8 seconds of speech. In Touch mode, the tag or hand contacts the large blue activation surface; in Proximity mode, a tag can be swiped above the surface, which can help users with limited mobility or when the device is mounted beneath a table or wheelchair tray. The standard package includes the ProxPAD, 40 large blank tags, programming tag set, power adapter, peel-and-stick label sheets, laminate sticker sheets and a 2-year warranty. Programming is completed directly on the device without needing a computer.

Who it helps

Is this right for you?

Children and adults who benefit from a single, highly concrete communication target rather than a multi-button AAC layout. ProxPAD can be especially useful for cause-and-effect learning, making choices, requesting, identifying objects and giving a voice to tangible or visual cues. Its proximity mode can also reduce the need for precise physical contact.
